Since the 2nd of March, political prisoners and imprisoned insurgents are waging a struggle with their body as their only means of defense and are currently staging a hunger strike that keeps escalating with the increasing participation of numerous prisoners on the first line of the struggle. We, on our part, support the struggle of the captive comrades and demand:
The abolition of counter-terror legislation, articles 187 and 187A
The abolition of the special coercive legislation (regarding covering the face)
The abolition of Type C prisons (special conditions of detention and confinement in isolation)
The immediate release of family members of the anarchist revolutionary organization Conspiracy of Fire Nuclei
The decarceration of Savvas Xiros (member of the R.O. 17N) for health reasons, since he has been diagnosed with 98% disability
The enforcement of limitations on various issues regarding the processing and use of genetic material (DNA), based on which insurgents have been framed and convicted.
The struggle of our comrades against the coercive methods used by the state and the capital, which target participants of the struggle and the revolution, in and out of these walls, are methods that increase and evolve as the structural capitalist crisis deepens and while people organize in order to resist. The abolition of the law regarding covering one’s facial characteristic and the counter-terror law, which have been used by the state to upgrade indictments in order to act as aggravating factors in sentencing, are relevant to any individual who resists and questions civil lawfulness. Thus, we perceive solidarity with the imprisoned insurgents as an essential part of the struggle, as a mutual and manifold relationship.
We prioritize a diverse direct action, the creation of infra-structures, the escalation and mutual support of all struggles. We estimate that the actions of the solidarity movement can act as a catalyst for the hunger strike of our comrades, contributing in both the fulfillment of our demands and the creation of a legacy for future struggles to come.
An active movement of solidarity in conjunction with the essence of the hunger strike itself, has the potential to combat in advance, any ”partial” back-pedaling or the oral amendment of the bills, which will be attempted by the state eventually, during its attempt to take control of the hunger strike.
For all the above reasons, we proceed to the occupation of the building housing the Athens University Law School, in an attempt to create a manifold centre of communication and action, until justice is restored for every last one of the hunger-strikers.
IMMEDIATE AND UNCONDITIONAL FULFILLMENT OF ALL THE DEMANDS OF THE CAPTIVE HUNGER-STRIKERS.
STRUGGLE FOR THE REVOLUTION, FOR THE DEMOLITION OF EVERY PRISON, FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF THE STATE AND THE CAPITAL.
